💡WHY THIS WATCH

The Breitling Chronomat 81950, introduced in the early 1980s, is one of the most historically important models in Breitling’s lineup, marking the brand’s comeback to mechanical chronographs after the quartz crisis. Developed in collaboration with the Italian Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team, the 81950 was launched in 1984 and helped re-establish Breitling as a leader in pilot’s watches. It features a 39mm case, a unique onion-style crown, and the signature rider tabs on the bezel that could be used to mark countdowns or flight times. Powered by the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement, it was robust and highly functional. What makes the 81950 special is its role in reviving the mechanical chronograph market, its distinctive aviation-inspired design, and its cult status among vintage Breitling enthusiasts.
