WHY THIS WATCH

The Rolex Datejust is a classic timepiece that has been a mainstay in the world of luxury watches for over 70 years. The first Datejust model was introduced in 1945, and it was the first wristwatch to feature an automatically changing date display. This revolutionary feature was made possible by a new self-winding movement developed by Rolex, which also allowed the watch to have a more streamlined, sleek design. The Datejust represents the spirit of the Rolex by treading that fine line between an all-out dress piece and something robust and versatile enough to be worn every day.

The Rolex reference 16XXX is a vintage Datejust that was in production from 1977 to the late 1988's. The major distinction between this reference and it's predecessor is the engine. This watch is powered by the Rolex Calibre 3035, an automatic movement that beats at 28,800 vph. Among watch repair circles, this movement is know to be a die-hard, bullet-proof calibre, that has a low failure rate, and is very easy to maintain. It's not uncommon for us to come across watches with this movement that were never serviced and are still keeping time to within COSC specs. Besides the movement, this reference kept the classic case size and lines of datejusts of that era.

On the wrist, this watch feels like the perfect vintage datejust. The watch also has a classic, elegant look that is timeless, making it perfect for both formal and casual occasions. This watch gives off a warm vintage vibe that you can't get from later models. The gold bezel and center links on the jubilee bracelet give it the perfect amount elegance while keeping the watch appropriate for casual use. The 36mm Oyster case is the perfect size for me, and sits well on the wrist without feeling too heavy or bulky. The jubilee bracelet is another standout feature, and is buttery-smooth on the wrist. This particular example is in excellent for its age, with a very well preserved dial and case.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

This watch is a 9.1m serial number making it a 1986 watch. This watch is in excellent condition with a very clean dial, sharp lugs, and a clean bezel. The bracelet is tight and showing very little stretch. The Rolex 3035 movement is running strong without issues. Normal wear on the case from normal use. Comes with box only.

WHY THIS WATCH

When it was introduced in the 1940's the Breliting Premier was one of the first Breitling models made purely for civilians. The Premier model was different than the usual tool models Breitling churn out for aviatiors and divers. "Instruments for Professionals" has always been Breitling's slogan. The Premier was the first Breitling model dedicated to everyday elegance. Georges Kern, the company’s CEO, says it best: “This is the first modern Breitling collection dedicated to everyday elegance. With outstanding quality and performance, these watches bear our unmistakable brand DNA, but they have been created with a focus on style that beautifully complements their purpose”.

Among the chronographs, the Premier B01 42 is the flagship watch in the collection and is powered by Breitling’s in-house B01 chronograph calibre, which has 70 hours of power reserve. This particular watch is the Bentley Mode, and shows off a beautiful British Racing Green colour on the dial. The watch is 42mm in diameter and 13.8mm thick, 49.7mm lug to lug with 22mm spacing between the lugs. The bracelet is the classic 7 link all polished Breitling bracelet. Dial side we have that beautiful green dial, showing off two indices, one for a running seconds and one 30 minute counter.

One the wrist I would say this watch wears large, but retains comfort due to the reasonable lug to lug and the comfortable bracelet. It's big enough where you'll always know it's there, but not so big that it bothers your wrist. I don't think i could pull this watch off on a strap due to the thickness. I love the shade of green used on the dial. It's dark green or olive green depending on the lighting. The in-house B01 chronograph is a pleasure to activate. You can tell a lot of work went into these in-house movements. I would say this is a great all around Breitling sports watch, that could be worn in multiple settings, and is not too large, or too sporty unlike a lot of Breilting's other offerings.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

Watch was purchased from an Authorized Breilting Dealer in 2020, was registered with Breitling, and is under Warranty until 2025. The watch is in overall Near Mint Condition, with minor wear, mostly on the deployment clasp (see pics). The watch comes with the full set of Box and Papers, including warranty card and extra links.

WHY THIS WATCH

First Introduced in 2016

The Datejust 41 was introduced at Baseworld in 2016. It replaced the Datejust II, and made some slight, but important improvements to Rolex's Datejust line. The Datejust 41 is an overall leaner watch, with a slimmer case thickness and lugs. Rolex also introduced the watch with the 3235 movement, which is a fantastic automatic calibre (more on that below).

The Perfect Watch for any Occassion

The refinements made to the Datejust 41 are only apparent when you put this watch on your wrist. It's definitely slimmer, and slightly lighter, and overall just wears better than It's predecessor. What has not changed is how versatile the Rolex Datejust is. This watch is the perfect every day watch. It's stands out just enough for office wear, and is not too big for most wrists.

In House Calibre 3235

Rolex's Calibre 3235 is an in-house automatic movement that was originally announced at Baselworld 2017. 14 patents were made to protect the technology around this movement including a Paramagnetic Oscillator with new balance staff that offers enhanced resistance to magnetism. Rolex claims the new caliber 3235 is two times more precise than an officially certified chronometer with an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day “after casing”

Wrist Impressions

In my opinion, this is the best version of the modern Datejust: Jubilee Bracelet, 18K bezel, Legible Black Dial. This watch hits all the requirements for a beautiful daily wearer.

This watch was purchased in late 2022 from an Authorized Rolex Dealer. The watch is BRAND NEW and is under Rolex's FULL WARRANTY. The watch comes with the full set of Box, Manuals, extra link and Warranty Card. Please note, stickers were removed at the AD and the watch was sized.

The dial on these 16XX models looks much simpler than the ones on later datejusts. Pair this with the acrylic crystal, and this watch gives off a warm vintage vibe that you can't get from later models. The 36mm Oyster case is the perfect size for me, and sits well on the wrist without feeling too heavy or bulky. The jubliee bracelet is another standout feature, and is buttery-smooth on the wrist. This particular example is really excpetional for its age, with a very well preserved dial and case.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

This watch is a 5.2m serial number making it a 1978 watch. This watch is in fantastic condition with a very clean dial, sharp lugs, and a clean bezel. The bracelet is tight and showing very little stretch and will fit up to a 7.25 inch wrist. The Rolex 1570 movment is running strong without issues. No box or papers.

WHY THIS WATCH

The history of the California dial has deeper roots that one would think, and goes back to a period when Rolex serviced Panerai production watches. The first Panerai with a California dial was their reference 3646. So the 2008 California dial Panerai Radiomir 1936 wasn’t the first but inspired by that reference 3646 that Rolex created for them. Keep in mind, the above point is controversial, and many dispute it, but that's what we are going to go with!

The PAM 424 was introduced in 2012, first with a date function, and later without one. The watch has the aforementioned California dial, a gorgeous manual winding in-house movement, housed in a huge 47mm case. The Lug-to-Lug is not so bad, at 52mm, you could pull this off with a smaller wrist.

Inside we have a manual winding, in-house movement, the P3000. This is a very nicely done, simple, hand-winding movement, with some basic but nice finishing, and a really nice curve on the main plates.

On the wrist, this watch wear big, but is still do-able on my 6.5 inch wrists due to the wire lugs. Also note, the Radiomir models are missing the crown protector that the Luminor models have which adds to its comfort in my opinion. This watch gets a lot of attention, due to its size and California dial. Winding this watch is very enjoyable, with the movement giving of a very subtle winding sound. Overall a fantastic watch, that I would wear inside the rotation a few times a week. Despite its size I think this can be dressed up with the right strap.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

This watch is limited to 500 pieces each year and is 1XX/500. This watch was purchased brand new from a Panerai Authorized dealer in 2022, and comes with the Original Panerai Box and Papers. Watch is in overall Near-Mint condition, having been worn only a handful of times. Case is around 97%, and strap is around 95%. Since the watch was purchased in 2022, the watch is still under Panerai Warranty. The original owner has registered this watch with the extended warranty, so this watch is under WARRANTY UNTIL 2030 (see last photo). This watch retails for $8,600.

WHY THIS WATCH

Many see the Cartier Santos, which was introduced by Louis Cartier in 1904, as the first purpose designed men’s wrist watch. The Santos had a very revolutionary asthetic at the time it was released, with it's square case and visible screws on the bezel, it had a downrigth industrial look, during an era where that wasn't popular. Do these design elements remind you of anything? 70 years later Gerald Genta would borrow some of these design elements for the Audemars Piquet Royal Oak, a legendary watch in it's own right. The Santos has remained a mainstay in Cartier’s collection ever since its introduction more than a century ago. In 1987 the Santos was relaunched as the Santos Galbée, as a two-tone only watch. Cartier introduced the Galbee, which is French for "curved" by giving the case slightly more curved lugs and, for the first time, an integrated Santos bracelet, which would in time become just as iconic as the watch itself. This particular Santos Galbée XL reference 2823 dates back to the mid-2000s. The stainless steel case measures 45 x 32 mm. Inside, you have the Cartier Calibre 39, which is an ETA automatic base finished to Cartiers standards.

In my opinion, this the best version of the Cartier Santos for a man. On the wrist, you notice that despite being called XL, the watch falls beautifully around the wrist due to the integrated bracelet with concealed butterfly clasp. I would say this watch watch wears like a 38mm watch. I love how the explosed screws in the bracelet are arranged erradictly. I usually pull this watch with just about anything. Jeans and brunch, coctail hour, business dinner, this watch just feels right at home almost anywhere.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

Watch is from the mid-late 2000's and is in overall excellent condition, with some light wear on the case and bracelet. Case is around 93%, with most of the light surface scratches on the polished bezel. The bracelet is pretty clean, around 95%. The movement is running strong and keeping good time, with the date changing as it should at midnight. The watch comes with box and manual only, no other paperwork. The bracelet has enough links to fit a 7 inch wrist. Additional links available upon request.

WHY THIS WATCH

The Cartier Pasha was introduced in 1985, as a tribute to the Pasha of Marrakesh, a lifelong customer of Louis Cartier. The original Pasha was an oversized, waterproof watch that was cased fully in yellow gold, it drew design inspiration from an archival model dating back to 1943.

The Cartier Pasha has managed to remain stylish since it was introduced and this has something to do with it's design touches most notably the screw-down chain crown (which also doubles as a crown protector). You may or may not be surprised to learn that the Pasha was designed by none other than designer extraordinaire Gerald Genta. Gerald designed the Pasha a full 13 years after he created the legendary Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. With it's striking design the Pasha de Cartier has been a cult icon since its creation.

This particular iteration of the Pasha is the chronograph. At 36mm it hits just the right spot in terms of size. With it's 'T' Lugs, integrated bracelet, and cap+chain crown protector and perfect size, this is a very versatile watch that can be worn by just about anyone for just about any occasion.

Watch is from 200XX. The watch is in overall near mint condition, and was worn only a handful of times. Only very light wear on the case and bracelet. The watch comes with the original Cartier Box and Papers. The watch is running strong without any issues.

WHY THIS WATCH

The Rolex 1675 was conceived when the American airline, Pan American Airlines approached Rolex and asked them to develop a watch for their pilots. This partnership led to the development of the the first GMT-Master the reference 6542. The dual time zone was a useful tool for pilots and those traveling across different timezones. The ability to track local and home time was especially useful for commercial pilots.

The 1675 is the 2nd Generation GMT replacing the reference 6542. The 1675 introduced two key changes to the GMT model. First, the fragile Bakelite Bezel of the 6542 was replaced with an Aluminum insert. Second, Crown Guards were added to the case. These 2 changes made the 1675 the first GMT that could really be worn daily.

Today's Rolex GMT-Master is one of the most popular models from the brand. With the GMT-Master II 126710BLRO on jubilee bracelet seeing a waiting list many years long, older models such as the 1675 have become very popular.

On the wrist, this watch just exudes vintage charm. The fade on the bezel, and the gorgeous creme lume points really make this watch look very special. I never get tired of staring at this watch. At 40mm this watch can be worn comfortably by almost anyone, and will slip right under the cuff. This watch has a bullet-proof build quality that doesn't make me shy wearing it every day or on long travel trips.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

Watch is 2.1m serial number, making it 1969. Case is in overall excellent condition with a lot of meat left on the lugs, see side profile pics. The matte dial and handset are showing light creamy lume points. The factory pepsi bezel displays a beautiful contrast, with fade on the blue side and less so on the red side, a testament to the different blends of paints used at the time. Rolex contracted out it's bracelet making to the USA in the sixties, so this watch comes on an Authentic Vintage Rolex U.S.A jubilee bracelet with 580 end links. Movement is running strong without issues.
