This is a rare transitional model which carries the 51110 movement and beats at 21600 (3HZ). Starting in late 2005 early 2006, IWC introduced the new caliber 51110 in the original big pilot with a higher 3Hz movement. This was for a brief period of time before the redesigned IW500401 was publicly released later in 2006. These 5002s with a higher-beat movement are called 'transitional' BPs.

Made in a Limited Run of of 150 watches, this IWC Ingenieur Tribute to Italy sports a gorgeous creme colored dial, and red seconds hand. On the back we have an inscription of Italy. 42.5MM case with the original IWC strap, and additional strap commissioned by a strapmaker to look exactly like the original. The watch was fully serviced by IWC in OCT 2022.

Experience on the Wrist: Gorgeous vintage vibes from the creme dial. This is a very memorable dial that makes a fantastic impression on the wrist and is so simple and easy to read. Modern case proportions. At 42.5mm this is a larger watch though not overly so. Perfect weekend drop-top through the Tuscan hills kind of watch.

This is a real sleeper watch that should get more attention than it does. The first thing that stands out when wearing this watch is that it's not a very thick watch for being a chronograph. The 13.5mm thickness is very refreshing. It's also under 50mm lug to lug so it'll fit pretty well on even smaller wrists. I would say this wears like a 41 or even a 40mm watch. The case design and pushers have a very unique, almost Italian style. The watch can be easily dressed up and down depending on the strap. Overall a fantastic watch for the money, it's no wonder this watch has been a staple of the IWC collection for a while now.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

The watch was barely worn and is in Near Mint condition with only very minor surface wear. I'd give the case 9.3/10. The movement is running strong, keeping good time with no issues whatsoever. The watch comes with the original IWC warranty card from 2017. It comes on the original IWC leather strap, with a factory IWC buckle. The strap was barely worn and is around 9/10. Comes with an aftermarket box.

On the wrist, the first thing you notice is how light this watch is for its 44.5mm diameter. I love how clean and legible this dial is. Compared to other Top Gun models I think this is the most desirable with the two sub-registered combined into one at the top. You can tell this is an in-house movement when you activate the chronograph or wind the watch. This watch is light, comfortable, and legible enough to be an everyday tool watch for me.

THE LITTLE DETAILS

The watch is from 2016 and is in overall excellent condition. The ceramic case has barely any wear and is around 9.5/10. The dark brown factory IWC strap was worn sparingly and is around an 8/10 with plenty of life left on it. The strap is affixed to a factory IWC deployment buckle. The watch is keeping excellent time and has zero mechanical issues with the chronograph resetting to zero. The watch comes with a box only, no papers.
